Looking for an experienced supervisor to lead a concrete construction team
Position Summary
Responsibilities
The Concrete Superintendent is required to perform duties including, but not limited to:
- Ensure that projects are built according to approved plans and specifications
- Arrange for the various soil and concrete testing required to ensure the integrity of the structure and report unusual findings to Project/Field Manager
- Review and maintain construction schedule
- Submit hourly time cards with all necessary details for job costing purposes
- Prepare field change orders to be signed by project owner or representative when requested
- Maintain a daily log
- Perform other related duties as required
Safety
- Ensure that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by the corporate Health and Safety manual, Workers’ Compensation Board or other safety authorities
- Promote a positive safety culture with a target for zero incidents
- Read and implement Supervision and Worker Responsibilities outlined in the PMCL Health and Safety Manual
Leadership
- Utilize the appropriate management skills to lead the team effectively in the day-to-day execution of the work
- Responsibly lead and mentor the team with integrity and demonstrate good work ethics
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive knowledge of civil concrete construction, reinforcing steel and formwork systems
- Minimum of five years previous construction experience with commercial or industrial projects as a Project Superintendent, Coordinator, Manager or similar direct supervisory role
- Organizational and planning skills
- A strong safety record
- The ability to respect and work within a diverse workforce
- Computer experience
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Consistent punctuality and reliability
